Juneteenth

Every June 19th, millions of people mark the day Texas finally freed its enslaved people in 1865, two and a half years after the order to do so.

The play follows Tippy and Henry, a Texas slave woman and slave man whose love, faith and prayer carried them through slavery and through those extra two and a half years. It is an eye opener, and it also asks a harder question: why the residue of slavery still weighs on society today.

Watch Night

Watch Night is called Freedom's Eve, and this play shows why. It traces the first day of freedom for enslaved African Americans through the eyes of a young girl called Baby Doll, who falls into a romance with Joseph, the slave master's nephew.

Along the way it answers a question many congregations have never had answered: why churches hold Watch Night services at all. It was the studio's first production.

Carter High

In the 1980s, Carter High School in Dallas was a football powerhouse. This is the story of four student athletes whose choices off the field cost them their futures. Executive producer, Greg Ellis.

Starring Charles Dutton, Vivica A. Fox, David Banner, Reginald Hayes and Pooch Hall. Released nationally in theatres, available through Walmart, Redbox and Netflix, and aired regularly on BET.

The founder

Greg L. Ellis

A native of Wendell, North Carolina, Greg Ellis was named Male High School Athlete of the Year by the Raleigh News & Observer before taking an athletic scholarship to the University of North Carolina, where he became the school's all-time sack leader, a consensus first-team All-American and a Lombardi Award finalist. He left with a degree in Communications.

He was a first-round pick in the 1998 NFL draft and played twelve seasons, eleven with the Dallas Cowboys and one with the Oakland Raiders, reaching the Pro Bowl in 2007, the same year he was named Comeback Player of the Year.

When football ended, he brought his degree and his love of the arts together and founded Play Now Enterprise, a multimedia company producing television, feature films and stage plays. Its mission is simple: produce content that entertains and enlightens people of all ages.
